Applications

Apply to the libraries Placement Programme

Tell us about your book. We read it, consider where it naturally belongs, and reply with an honest assessment of whether twelve months of researched outreach makes sense for it.

Campaign period: August 2026 to August 2027

How it works

Five stages, from application to decision

Every application follows the same path, so you know what to expect at each point.

    Stage 01

    Send your application

Complete the form below with your book details and what you would like the programme to explore. There is no fee to apply.

    Stage 02

    We read the book

We read the material you provide, or the book itself where available, to understand what it is genuinely about rather than how it is categorised.

    Stage 03

    Initial assessment

We consider whether there are reader communities, libraries, reading groups or institutions we can research credibly for this title.

    Stage 04

    Conversation

If the book looks like a fit, we arrange a conversation to discuss objectives, the twelve-month period, and what the work would involve.

    Stage 05

    Decision

We confirm in writing whether we are able to take the book onto the programme. Where we are not, we say so plainly and explain why.

Before you begin

What to have ready

Nothing formal is required. These details simply let us assess the book properly the first time.

The book title, subtitle and author name as you would like them presented.

The genre or subject, plus any themes you feel are central to the book.

A short description in your own words, a few sentences is enough.

Publication status, and the formats that exist or are planned.

A link to the book online, if one exists.

What you would most like the twelve months to explore.

How we assess

What we look for

Each book is considered individually. These are the questions we ask of every application.

01

The book has an identifiable subject

Outreach depends on subject matter. Where a book has clear themes, we can research the communities and institutions already discussing them.

02

The work is finished or close to it

Community and library outreach works best when there is a readable book. Forthcoming titles are welcome where a firm release is planned.

03

The objective is visibility, not a promise

The programme pursues introductions and relevance. It does not offer guaranteed sales, reviews, stock decisions or endorsements.

04

The author wants a considered approach

This is selective, researched outreach across twelve months rather than mass promotion. It suits authors who prefer depth to volume.

The programme identifies, researches and pursues relevant opportunities. It does not guarantee sales, reviews, library acquisition, book club selection, publishing acceptance or endorsement of any kind.

Questions

Application questions

Does it cost anything to apply?

No. Applying and the initial assessment are free. If we believe the book is a fit, we discuss scope and terms with you before anything is agreed.

Is every application accepted?

No. The programme is selective and each book is assessed individually. Where we cannot research credible communities for a title, we say so rather than sell a year of activity.

How long does a decision take?

We aim to respond to every application. Reading and assessment take time, so allow a short period before following up.

Do I need to be published by Meridian Press?

No. Independently published and externally published authors may apply.

What happens if my book is not accepted?

We explain our reasoning and, where we can, suggest what would make a later application stronger. Your details are held in line with our privacy policy.
