Boilerplate
Approved company description.
Use either version verbatim. Both are written to be accurate without overstating what publishing can promise.
Meridian Press International Publishing is a Chicago-based publishing company working with authors worldwide across editorial, translation, rights licensing, audiobooks, distribution and screen adaptation.
Meridian Press International Publishing is a United States publishing company based in Chicago, Illinois, working with authors, translators and publishers internationally. Its services span manuscript assessment and editing, book publishing and production, literary translation and localisation, territory-by-territory rights licensing, audiobook production and distribution, global print and digital distribution, and a dedicated Book-to-Screen Development and Adaptation division. Every project is defined in writing before it starts: scope, deliverables, schedule and fees. Copyright in an author's work always remains with the author, and the company makes no promises about sales, reviews, rankings or awards.
Division profile
Book-to-Screen Development & Adaptation.
Assessment, development and positioning for books considered as screen properties. Rights negotiation is always referred to an entertainment attorney.

Division lead
Evan John
Head of Book-to-Screen Development & Adaptation
Based in United States
Evan leads the Book-to-Screen Development & Adaptation division from the United States. He reads submitted books as potential screen properties, sets the adaptation direction, oversees pitch package development and market positioning, and tells authors plainly when a book is better served by publishing alone.
A book earns a screen life when its characters, conflict and world can carry a camera, not because we wish they could.Email Evan

What the division does
- Adaptation assessment: an honest read of whether a book can carry a camera, and in what format.
- Screen development: logline, synopsis, character breakdowns and treatment.
- Market and positioning: comparables, audience definition and genre placement.
- Pitch package development: a producer-facing package for the project.
- Rights and project readiness: rights position and supporting documentation.
- Industry outreach strategy and selective professional introductions where genuinely available.
